About the project

When a dealership was purchased, contaminants were discovered in the water and soil samples

  • The operating facility leaked hydraulic fluid into the water table creating safety and environmental issues
  • Soil were impacted in 3 of 6 bays and required excavation and remediation of contaminated materials
  • The car dealer was concerned about maintaining customer experience and normal operations while repairs took place

Actions Taken

A complete remediation was conducted to bring operations back to normal and pass environmental safety guidelines

  • One by one remediation of the hydraulic bays- Remediation and removal of contaminated soils occurred one bay at a time while in-store operations were maintained.
  • A partnership was created with local environmental experts to ensure remediation met environmental standards
  • Testing & sampling conducted to achieve acceptable water table testing threshold and proper disposal of fill materials were performed
Side by side image shows the remediation of one of the bays where contaminated soil had to be removed.

The expectations of the automotive client were not only met, but also exceeded:

  • All 3 bays and testing was completed in 3 months
  • Soil and water table contamination were returned to the environmentally required levels
  • Operations stayed open and continue to thrive at this community favorite for new & used Hyundai's
